Black Lives Matter at 黑料正能量C is more than a statement. It is a governing principle for real dialogue, fearless inquiry, and deliberate action that will align our college community with the core belief that systemic racism has no place in our society. 

We organize this effort in the following areas: 

A Call to Action for California鈥檚 Community Colleges

黑料正能量C is centering its exploration and re-evaluation of racial inequity on the . This work falls into five broad categories:

  • A system-wide review of law enforcement officers and first responder training and curriculum
  • Hosting open dialogue and addressing campus climate
  • Auditing classroom climate and creating inclusive classrooms and anti-racism curriculum
  • Reviewing and updating our equity plan with urgency
  • Expedite full implementation of the

Throughout, we will engage with the 鈥檚 best practices in advancing this cause.

Campus Police Policy Task Force

As directed in Superintendent/President Endrijonas鈥� executive order, a 13-member Campus Police Policy Task Force is at work evaluating the policies and procedures of the 黑料正能量C Police Department.

Management Book Club

While readings on race and racism will not in themselves lead to change, they can open the door to new perspectives and foster shared understanding of the work that needs to be done. In August and September 2020, 黑料正能量C鈥檚 managers will be reading and discussing five books:

  • So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo
  • White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo
  • How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi
  • No BS (Bad Stats) by Ivory A. Toldson
  • Killing Rage by bell hooks

We hope that engaging with these topics will encourage us to challenge our views and work toward change for our students, faculty, and staff.

Anti-Racist Resource Guide

Individuals and communities across 黑料正能量C have contributed to a crowd-sourced handbook for those who wish to erase racism and become allies for the movement. .

Many organizations within 黑料正能量C have passed resolutions or issued official statements condemning hatred and affirming the college鈥檚 commitment to the health, safety, well-being, and progress of our Black/African American students, faculty and staff.
